ABB Appoints Björn Rosengren As New CEO

13 August 2019

The Board of ABB has appointed Björn Rosengren as its chief executive officer, a role he will assume in early 2020. Rosengren, who will join the company on Feb. 1, will succeed current CEO Peter Voser on March 1. Voser will then serve solely as ABB’s board chairman.

Rosengren,60, is a highly experienced, international executive and leader of industrial businesses, the company said. He previously served as CEO of Sandvik, a global engineering group, since 2015. Prior to that, he was the CEO of Wärtsilä Corp., which manufactures and services power sources and other equipment for the marine and energy markets (2011-2015). He also spent 13 years (1998-2011) in a variety of management roles at Atlas Copco.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to join ABB,” Rosengren said. “At such a pivotal time for manufacturing industries, ABB must continue to best serve the needs of global customers with a unique technology and digital solutions portfolio to help enhance their productivity.”
