HRS, a designer and manufacturer of hydrogen refuelling stations, has signed a deal with Burckhardt Compression covering supply of diaphragm compressors to be used in HRS refuelling systems.

The goal is to deliver refuelling solutions with a capacity in excess of one ton per day to meet market demand for heavy transport (truck, bus, ports, etc.) and light commercial vehicles (taxis, etc.).

The partnership will further look to identify new market opportunities in hydrogen mobility, in the marine, rail and air transport sectors.

A design using hardware from Burckhardt Compression has been drawn up which takes related constraints into account. This should deliver a refuelling station capable of delivering between one and two tonnes per day.

The partners note that demand for large-capacity stations is ‘already strong’ and is expected to ramp up over the short term.

Fabrice Billard, CEO of Burckhardt Compression, said: “We are very pleased that the recent partnership between our two companies has resulted in a first significant order for compressors. We are convinced that this innovative agreement will support the hydrogen mobility in France and the decarbonization of transportation.”
