Thomas Heumesser, an active member of the European Forum for Reciprocating Compressors, passed away at the age of 63 on June 5th, 2022 after a heart attack.

He leaves behind his wife, Ursula Heumesser, and his sons, Thomas and Matthias. Heumesser started his career with Leobersdorfer Maschinenfabrik (LMF) in Austria in 1989.

Heumesser had worked for Sauer Compressors in Kiel since 2016. In 2020, he became chief technology officer (CTO) at Sauer. Heumesser has been an active member and contributor to the EFRC since the beginning of the organization. He always supported the R&D Working Group with new ideas and technologies, and was always happy to share deep insights into reciprocating compression.

At his suggestion, LMF donated a compressor to TU Dresden for the EFRC project Piston Rod Cooling performed by Dr. Christiane Thomas. Under his leadership Sauer Compressors saw its R&D budget grow.

In addition, he has been auditor of the EFRC for 3 years and is known for his enthusiasm, creativity and big smile.
