DNV GL creates new Energy Systems business

04 February 2021

Company also changing name March 1

DNV GL, an assurance and risk management company, has merged its Oil & Gas and Power & Renewables businesses into a new entity called Energy Systems. The new business will serve as a resource of independent energy experts.

The move comes at a time when several companies throughout the energy industry are focusing on more environmentally friendly energy sources, such as hydrogen and renewables. The new business unit officially started operating on Feb. 1 and provides certification, advisory and digital monitoring services to the entire energy value chain.

“The creation of Energy Systems is our response to a rapidly changing energy market in search for deeper decarbonization,” said Remi Eriksen, group president and CEO of DNV GL. “We want to enable our customers to tackle the energy transition – faster. By combining our expertise we will better serve customers operating in, and entering the energy market. This new structure will help us serve all players in the energy market.”

DNV will also change its name to DNV, effective March 1.
