BP’s Qattameya field gas begins to flow
26 October 2020
BP’s Qattameya gas field development, off the shores of Egypt, has begun producing gas.
Through BP’s joint venture, Pharaonic Petroleum Co. (PhPC), the field has been developed through a one-well subsea development with a tie back to existing infrastructure. The field is expected to produce up to 50 Mcfd (1.4 X 106 m3/d).
Qattameya, discovered in 2017, sits 28 miles (45 km) west of the Ha’py platform in 354 ft. (108 m) of water. It is tied back to the Ha’py and Tuart field development via a new 31 mile (50 km) pipeline. It is also connected to existing subsea utilities via a 31 mile (50 km) umbilical.
BP holds 100% equity in the North Damietta offshore concession in the East Nile Delta. Gas production from the field is directed to Egypt’s national grid.
