BHGE Tackles Flaring In Iraq

07 August 2018

South Gas Co. of Iraq (SGC) has selected Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE) with a contract for flare gas recovery for the Nassiriya and Al Gharraf oilfields.

Per the contract, BHGE will build a 200 MMcfd (5.6 X 106 m3/d) natural gas liquids (NGL) plant at Nasiriya to aid in this task. The plant will recover dry gas, as well as more than 1000 tons of liquified petroleum gas (LPG) per day and 31,783 cfd (900 m3/d) of condensate.

Dry gas from the plant will support area power plants with electricity. The LPG and condensate will be used to satisfy domestic demand for cooking gas. The surplus gas and condensate will be exported, providing funds to the Iraqi government.
