Atlas Copco Releases New BOG Compressor

17 September 2019

Atlas Copco Gas and Process has unveiled its new high-pressure boil-off gas compressor at Gastech in Houston, Texas. The six-stage compressor, which offers 98% reliability and availability, can handle cryogenic high-pressure boil-off gas.

According to the company, this compressor is the first process machine to combine two cryogenic and four warm stages on a single gearbox and skid, which offers a machine that can operate in a compact footprint. The compressor also uses dry gas seals, which provides higher efficiency during operation and lower methane leakage rates compared with traditional carbon ring seals.

“Applying integral gear technology to cryogenic high-pressure BOG (boil-off gas) handling is a true accomplishment by our engineering team”, said Tushar Patel, the global head of marketing at Atlas Copco Gas and Process. “We are pleased that we can offer our customers the efficiency and reliability our IGC (integrally geared turbocompressors) machines are known for, now in cryogenic high-pressure BOG handling”.
