Dresser-Rand’s HammerHead supplements Magnum Line

Dresser-Rand has launched its Magnum HammerHead valve, designed for high molecular weight applications at both low and high compressor speeds.

The valve, which can be used in all brands of reciprocating compressors, has geometry that allows a 60% increase in the valve flow area compared to standard Magnum valves.

Dresser-Rand said flow testing showed the HammerHead surpassed poppet, plate and ring-type valves. It said that the valve’s functionality at high compressor speeds sets it apart from other poppet valves.

Other features are: an element design that minimizes tensile stresses; a streamlined flow path with optimized seat, guard and lift areas; the use of only one element for all valve sizes; precision-guided element and springs to increase the reliability of moving parts; and lower power consumption.
