Corac’s 'Dirty Gas' Flowloop to Enhance Testing

Compact compressors can get working-environment trials

Corac Group has expanded its test facility at its Technology Centre in Slough, England, with the commissioning of a “dirty gas” flowloop.

Operated by its subsidiary Corac Energy Technologies (CET), which develops advanced compact compressors and renewable energy generators, the flowloop is described as “innovative” by the company.

The British firm has been working to develop a compact downhole gas compressor that would be the equivalent of the electric submersible pumps commonly used in the oil and gas industry. It said field trials in Texas have confirmed the technology (see COMPRESSORtech2, Aug.-Sept. 2013 digital issue, p. 62).

CET said its expanded testing facility allows it to simulate live gas well conditions for performance and reliability before shipping compressors to the field.
