KBC to Distribute Compressor Software

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

KBC Advanced Technologies, a U.K.-based software services firm, said it will distribute MSE (Consultants) Ltd.’s Pro-M compressor design software as part of KBC’s Petro-SIM process simulator.

MSE has used its Pro-M technology in advanced compressor design and optimization projects for oil and gas companies over the last 20 years. Petro-SIM contains full gas turbine simulation as part of the process model.

MSE Chairman Sib Akhtar said, “Gas compressors are the heart of an oil and gas production facility and must be redesigned to match the changing operating conditions as reservoirs are depleted. Compressor optimization is a cost effective and proven method to increase production from mature assets and to extend their productive life.”

Andy Howell, KBC executive vice president of software, said, “Until now, process simulators have generally not incorporated advanced compressor design and have not included the integration of compressor sets with gas turbine drives.”
