Ariel Opens Ohio Parts Center

Monday, November 19, 2012

Ariel Corp. has opened a 58,000 sq.ft. (5400 m2) parts distribution center near its Mount Vernon, Ohio, headquarters.

The facility was designed to consolidate finished goods from several of Ariel’s plants, helping to reduce transportation costs for the company, while also increasing distribution efficiency and speed. The center also has offices for buyers, spare parts technicians and supervisory staff.

“In recent years, Ariel’s aftermarket business has experienced impressive annual growth, and we are set to continue this way for many years to come,” said Pat Owens, manager of inventory and logistics.

Ariel also is changing the way it fulfills orders in order to streamline the process. Previously, one person handled an order from start to finish. That now has been broken into five primary functions: picking, packing, shipping, valve cell, and subassembly.
