Thursday, July 05, 2012
Atlas Copco has received a $17 million order for turbocompressors to be installed at an onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Northern Territory, Australia.
Inpex Corp. and Total will make LNG using feedstock from Ichthys field in the Browse Basin, about 125 mi. (200 km) off Western Australia. After preliminary offshore processing to remove water and extract condensate, the gas will be transported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin, Australia, via a 550 mi. (890 km) subsea pipeline. The project is expected to produce 8.4 Mty of LNG and 1.6 Mty of liquefied petroleum gas.
JKC Australia LNG placed the order for turboexpanders to be used in gas treatment and three-stage air compressors to produce instrument air for use at the onshore plant. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter of 2013.
Responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction of the onshore facilities, the JKC Australia LNG Joint Venture consists of JGC Corp., KBR, and Chiyoda Corp.
