Dresser-Rand Refines Compact Compressor

Dresser-Rand Group has updated its compact compressor line of products with the Datum I Integrated Compression System (ICS), designed for onshore, offshore and subsea applications.
“By maintaining the reliability and efficiency of the original Datum compressor and reducing the size and cost, the Datum ICS features centrifugal separation technology; a high-speed, close-coupled, gas-cooled motor; dedicated unit controls; process coolers; valves; instrumentation and interconnecting piping all packaged in a compact module,” the company said.
Datum ICS uses centrifugal force to separate oil, gas and water from the flow, protecting the compression flow-path by removing free liquids that can cause fouling during the compression process.
Compared with normal compression modules, Datum ICS requires 50% less space and weighs 50% less, Dresser-Rand said, adding that clients have reported reduced costs as well as reduced installation and start-up times when using the ICS unit.
