Emerson Introduces Vapor Recovery Units
VRUs use hermetically sealed scroll compressors requiring low oil flows
Vilter Manufacturing, a subsidiary Emerson Climate Technologies, said its latest generation of vapor recovery units (VRUs) use hermetically sealed scroll compressors that require low oil flows.
Lubricating oil is processed through a multi-stage, heated, horizontal stabilizer that removes all absorbed hydrocarbons. The lube oil is then returned to the compressor as part of the closed loop system.
Vilter said the stabilizer enables the system to maximize throughput while protecting the compressor from low oil viscosity caused by dilution.
The Vilter VRU-44 can accommodate pressures up to 175 psig (12 bar), and the VRU-56 pressures up to 150 psig (10.3 bar). Both units use the ROC827 remote operations controller with three to 27 input/output and communication modules.
Thomas Hoopes, Vilter’s Hydrocarbon Industry director, said the new VRUs help companies comply with environmental regulations while preventing premature shutdown due to low oil viscosity and excessive carry over.
