Dresser-Rand Introduces Small LNG Unit

First deliveries expected in 2014

Published:

Dresser-Rand has successfully tested its small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant, known as LNGo, and expects to begin delivering the 6000 gal/day (22,700 L) units next year.

The stand-alone plants are portable and can be moved to support changing needs. The product includes Dresser-Rand’s newly-introduced MOS reciprocating compressor, Guascor engines, Enginuity control systems and project management to integrate the process components into compact, portable packages.

Upstream applications include the monetization of flared gas, the production of stranded natural gas fields, on-site fuel supplies for drilling or hydraulic fracturing equipment converted to run on LNG, and converting coal bed methane to fuel mining equipment. Downstream applications include the production of vehicle-grade LNG that would compete with diesel fuel on a cost-per-energy-content basis.

Dresser-Rand said its short manufacturing cycle will enable LNGo plants to be installed and operating in months rather than years, giving owners quick returns on their investments.
