Rolls Wood Upgrades 100th Avon 200

Published:

Rolls Wood Group (RWG), a joint venture between Rolls-Royce plc and Wood Group, has completed its 100th upgrade of a Rolls-Royce Avon 200 industrial gas turbine. It will be sent to an offshore production platform in Asia.

The Avon industrial gas turbine delivers up to 22,000 hp (15 MW) of power operating in a wide range of power generation and oil and gas applications. More than 1200 units have been sold and operating experience exceeds 64 million hours.

With a redesigned turbine introduced in 2007, the upgraded Avon 200 delivers up to 22,800 hp (17 MW), improved thermal efficiency and emissions improvements.

Members of the RWG Board visited the company’s remanufacturing facility in Dyce, Scotland, to observe the milestone event. Rolls Wood Group was established in 1990 to repair and overhaul Rolls-Royce industrial turbines including the Avon, Olympus and RB211.
